been thinking long a hard about my home studio, and here is what i think i should use, please let me know what u think, even if its hurtfull lol

first off, presonus 16.4.2 with studio live
presonus hp60 headphone dis.
shure ksm32 cond. mic
2 shure PGDMK6XLR drum mics
shure beta57a for guitar and bass
then your basic monitors, and all that jazz, let me know what you think and all your input is greatly appriciated, thanks

I think you might want to give "monitors, and all that jazz" a lot more importance than you might think. I'm not saying your main priority should be your monitoring (even though I'm thinking it...I'm not saying it ;) ). But, somewhere down the road you'll probably come to the conclusion that your room and monitors are something to take seriously in the whole scheme of things.

lol i get ya, i was in a hury to post the post but i do take the monitoring seriously, i was just asking about the basic set-up i posted

What are your recording goals? When I started, my goals included being able to pack up at a moment's notice and record full bands live on the road. Somebody with a goal like that would buy very different rig than somebody who's goals included the ability to orchestrate complex midi/synth arrangements.

So, what do you plan on recording?

my goals are to record everything from acoustic to metal to rap, pretty much every genre of music

i really dont have a budget, so any open ideas are perfect!

for example if you have to record a band will you record all instruments at once or one by one?

Recording just yourself?? One or two other people?? A full band?? All at the same time?? Separately?? What space are you recording in??

i would like to do all instruments on by on and all at once, either one is cool with me, and my uncle is in real estate he owns little shopping centers around where i live and he told me i could use one of his bigger shops to use for a while until i had money to acctually lease it from him.

hahaha and scense yall keep givng me a hard time about my monitors, i was thinking about going krk vtx 4, or if i have money left over the vxt 6

That setup will be fine. Just add monitors and acoustic treatment to your rooms. Even if you need to pack up and record a live band...that's what the StudioLive was made for.

ok sweet, yeah thats why i liked the presonus mixer becuase it also has that fat channel thing and i think its pretty sweet and will save me some money for right now at least, monitors i want are the krk vtx 4, and of course room treatment even though its alot lol
