I have a guy that wants to do a phone interview. I need to record a guy on the phone and the interveiwer. How can I record the phone caller in my computer? There must be some type of hookup.
Thanks

Yes there is. We had one at the post studio I was working for for a while. Now if I can only remember the model # or who made it. It's basically a little box has a phone jack In (and Thru, obviously) and then Audio I/O. There are probably a few out there on the market, I'll see if I can find anything.

There are two ways to do it. One is with a hybrid, that's the thing that RAK was talking about. The other would be to go to Radio Shack and get a phone pickup. The hybrid is better, but they are expensive if this is only a one-time thing.

You could also go the "lo-fi" route and just put a mic on the speakerphone. If you have access to any decent teleconferencing systems, it might not be half bad. Probably the simplest, quickest route, but obviously not the highest quality compared to the other suggestions.

Man, I knew I could count on you guys! Great info. :) Thanks a lot!

I have also considered using 1/8 jack from the hand free port to 1/4 into a mic preamp. Then into sonar. My guy can talk into the phone so the guy on the west coast can hear, and the guy interveiwing will hear him in the headphones.

Did you even read the first post? Maybe you should turn around and try being the horse's head instead.
