My friend is selling his Fender Tele. It's a Mexican-made model, and it's one of the 50th anniversary models from '95 or '96. It's all black, except for the pick guard (tan/black swirl design, but he's got the original white one, too). Overall it's in pretty good condition. A couple knicks -- one where the paint is chipped off, exposing the wood (?) underneath. It's not huge, but it's worth mentioning. The worst problem is that the plastic string slot piece at the top of the neck:

is cracked. It actually cracked when I was restringing it this weekend (I was going to try it out before I bought it). I checked with the local guitar shop and they said it was a $30 repair, and then I found the link above where I can order the part for $1.00. How sure can I be that the piece will be the same as mine? How likely is it that it might not stay in tune as well or something like that if I replace the part? It seems like the easiest thing to replace on the guitar, next to the strings, but I don't really know.
He's currently asking $240 for this guitar with a Boss AW-2 Auto Wah: http://www.musicgearreview.com/reviews/boss-aw-2-review.htm (without power cable, so I'd have to use a battery). I don't really have any interest in the auto-wah...I'd rather have an actual wah peddle, not an auto-wah, but I've yet to try it out (need to get a battery for it).
How much is this guitar worth? If I could get just the guitar for $200, is that a good deal? I can get a new Telecaster from Musicians Friend for $350, so $240, even with the pedal, seems like too much.
Thanks!!!
