these Tech21's everyone is speaking of.......do they really sound tube, and are they reasonably priced?

I have an AX2, definitely want something more tubey, and also versatile.

Is tech21 versatile?

I have a Tech 21 Trademark 60. I also own a Soldano Astroverb tube amp. I really like the Tech 21. I don't think any amp will sound exactly like a tube amp (unless it is one), but I've found the Tech 21 to be a very good "close to a tube amp" sound. It is also quite versitile. I've only had it for about two weeks, but the controls do allow for quite a variety of tones. I got my amp for $300 on ebay (they usually run $275-325 on there), and I'm not sure the money could have been any better spent, personally.

I love my Trademark 10!!

Search the forums here for "tech21" "Trademark" and such and you'll find lotsa juicy info on 'em!

sweet, thanks. I definitely want to check them out.

If you have a Soldano, you have good taste. Period.

Things can sound like tube. but will never have the dynimics, harmonics, and warmth like tubes do. You sould hear some SS stuff with tube emulation compared to an all tube setup. As long as you have good tubes your never gonna go back to digital.

I have a PSA-1 for DI recording.
Imo it's a tasty unit but it needs some tweaking to get the good tones.
I'm using it in combination with an ADA Ampulator to get some poweramp tube grid.
