Teac RC -140 compatible with teac 3340s?

The RC140 was designed for some of TEAC's older semi-auto reverse open reel decks so it has two playback buttons, one for each direction. So obviously, one of those buttons isn't going to work on a 3340 which is supposed to use the RC-120 remote. Both use the round 12 pin sockets so the odds are decent that it might just work but...that's only a guess.

Cheers! :)

No and yes. Technically speaking the 3340s uses the RC-120. But the RC-140 is the same on the inside and out. The wiring to the plug may be a bit different. A different plug (or plug wiring) is often the only difference between one model remote and another. So, I'm sure you could get it to work, but maybe not right out of the box.

One other hopeful sign is that the center "Fast" button on the RC-140 changes the configuration inside the remote, so I don't think the machine knows the difference, except of course the reverse Play button will have no effect.

I would NOT!!!!!!! try-experiment RC-140 on 3340S without FIRST taking a real GOOD look at the diagram of the RC-140, which I don't have.
I do have A-4300SX, that uses RC-140. I don't have RC-140, but I know what "dummy plug" (short connection) is like. SEE This thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=291899 for details.
So RC-140 when plugged-in (or the dummy plug is plugged) - it shorts/connects pins:
#1 with #11 (that is the same as RC-120
AND!!!!
#9 and #8 , which is NO GOOD for 3340S :drunk: , see RC-120 diagram here: http://www.mzentertainment.com/pics/teac_rc_120/dr_zee_workshop_teac_rc_120_remote_schematics.gif, (ignore the foot-switch jacks there!!!! :) )

So, if you do not know what else is different there - you don't want!!!!!! to mess with these connections, really :spank: .

If you find RC-140 diagram somewhere, post link, I can't find it ....

....I don't think the machine knows the difference.....
Heh heh. You are right, Tim. There are no "logic"(s) in the control for those machines....just switches, diods, coils, caps, lamps ....arghhhhhhhhh.... and wires with good amount of current available "in them" :D:drunk::D

Yeah...make certain of what needs to be connected to what before plugging it in because if its wrong you risk sizzling your machine...no joke.
