When I put on a 10" reel my TEAC A-3440 it wobbles. It does it on either table. In the play mode the reel makes a noise with each revolution. ???? Anyone else have this problem?

My first thought is a bent reel. The noise you are hearing is the tape edge scraping against the reel flange on each revolution.
Is it ANY reel you put on.?
If it does it with any reel, then the reel tables may not be sitting flat, meaning bent table shafts or bent motor shafts.
With reels off the machine, lift the right hand tension arm and hit ff or rew. Do the tips of the turntable shafts spin true or do they wobble?? A wobble would indicate the are bent/misaligned. Common cause of this was a machine that fell on its face or was laid face down.

Isolate the problem.....

Thanks for the tips guys. I checked the reel shafts for warping. They were a bit off. When I use a 7" reel the problem is very minimal. I'll check the set screws next.
