I just bought the TM-D1000 by Tascam and I would like to know what or how would be the best way to connect this digital mixer to my computer. I do have a dman 2044 but I would really like to do better if possible and digital. I am from the old school dj's (12 inch two turn tables etc,) and have all these lp's that I would like to mix on the computer with some midi keyboard and drum machines...

Any help would be nice I trying all resouces.

I have a TM-D1000 and a SoundBlaster Live soundcard. I'm using the Tascam's SPDIF out to the SoundBalster's SPDIF in. SPDIF cable looks like (actually is) RCA to RCA cable, but use either cable labled "SPDIF" from your local music store, or, you can get RCA to RCA 75-ohm video cable from almost anywhere (best Buy, Walmart...) Of course, cables come in different qualities too, thicker wire, gold connectors, silver connectors, etc. but, as long as it is 75-ohm, it *is* the same thing as a cable specifically labeled "SPDIF".

I'm in a similar boat; just took delivery of a TM D1000 and am trying to figure the thing out. Dell computer with a Soundblaster Live! Value card; appears to have analog in / out and digital out only.

Any idea as to whether a real digital interface is available for this card? Everything I've seen is digital out, or is unavailable. May have to upgrade, but the computer / card is only a week old and I don't want to have to explain this one to my Domestic Financial Advisor. . .

[hey monkeyking thanks for the info i've been checking around and they seem to say the same using the SPDIF way. I've been trying to find some more info on this MIXTREME CARD that uses TDIF any news on this card that you might have heard if any]Originally posted by monkeyking:

I found a digital interface for the SB Live! Value card at www.hoontech.com for about fifty bucks, including an extra cable and shipping from Korea to the U.S.. Looks similar to the interface Creative had available and then pulled; the reasoning is becoming clear. There are a number of Soundblasters presently on the market, and they are similar but not identical. One difference is in the more recent models for OEM (Dell etc.) use that have a capacitor positioned inconveniently close to a digital ribbon connector; the interference required a redesign of the connector and Hoontech has apparently done that. So - if you are going to hook up a digital bracket interface to the interface connector at the rear of your SB Live! Value card, pull the cover of the case first and write down the card model number. It will make a difference.

Now - can anyone explain to this dummy how the signal works on the TM D-1000 digital out? I need to get an image in my head about how to do full duplexing - just how to hook this stuff up without making anything smoke. . . The Tascam manuals are great, but they assume the use of other Tascam recording products. I'm left in the "well, you should have thought of that" mode... Thanks!
