Big apologies to the Green Hornet. I purchased 15 MD data disks from MF last year. They had a deal - $10.00 per Sony disk. When the disks arrived, they were TDK not Sony. That upset a few people on this bulletin board. I argued that Sony and TDK disks were identical - in effect, they must be made in the same factory.

One year later, I'm finally getting around to using the disks I bought from MF. They look nothing like the Sony disks. Totally different cartridge and not from the same tooling. I apologize to Green Hornet for constantly arguing his point on TDK vs. Sony. I only hope these disks from MF don't jack up my machine.

Now I'm p*ssed that MF bait and switched my order. I may be over reacting, but these disks are definately not the same quality (on the outside) as Sony and TDK of old. The case seems more brittle - I think they are made out of poly styrene instead of ABS or acrylic.

Oh well, I'm starting a project with the new disks. Will report if I have any problems.

GH - how's the 2816? I'm thinking of getting one too.

Im going to repeat myself here in the hope of relieving some pressure. I have both kinds and as far as my MD8 is concerned they work just fine. All of my errors for the most part (Sony's) were from overheating the MD8. I changed how and where it sits and have not had an error since, from either the Sony or the TDK disks. Make sure your operating in a clean environment, don't rush things and keep everything below 78 degrees and everything should work fine disk wise. It made a huge difference for me.

Peace,
Dennis

YO DHN:

I sent you a E-post regarding the 2816 and TKD discs. But, I've not had any trouble using the TKD's. However, I don't record much on the MD8 although it is still hooked up in the studio.

The 2816 is a very good unit.

Green Hornet:D  :p :p
