TDK DA-3826 CD burner??

Anyone know anything about the TDK DA-3826 CD burner? Specifically, can the SCMS be disabled on it? Also, can you use the cheapo 89 cent CD-R's if you are recording from an analog source, or making copies within the 3826 itself? I called the TDK tech support line and was told that you could use the non-digital audio CD's to make copies from an analog source, but had to use the digital audio music CD's to make a digital copy. When I checked out the website, it had a big warning section stating that only the digital audio CD's could be used.

Are the digital audio CD's they mention the same ones in the Musicians Friend catalog that are listed as CD-R DA's for $1.99 each??

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to buy something that I can't use.

There has been a lot of discussion on this in the Computer/sound cards forum. To the best of my knowlage there is NO difference between "music" vs "data" CDRs. There are differences in the coatings on various CDRs and 74 vs 80 minute (650 vs 700 meg) sizes, but any CDR should be usable for either purpose.
