Which one should would you choose to record vocals (mainly heavy rock) and use as a room mic?

jeronimo,
I think the TB1 is so new that not enough people have experience with it yet to make a decent comparison. I, too, and waiting for a few more favorable reviews to filter in befroe splurging on a TB1. But if initial reports are anything, it seems like a good deal for the $$$.

I love my TB-1 but I haven't heard the Marshall. If I had the money I definately would buy another TB-1 I like it so much.Very in your face but oh so smooooooth!

Randy:
Have you tried the B1 in any other function besides VOX?
just curious if you think it has any other strengths besides vocals.
thanks randy

It's the TB-1 that I own.I did do a track with a lady singing and playing acoustic.I had the TB-1 set up for vocals but when I played back the tracks the TB-1 had picked up the acoustic very nicely.I haven't tried directly miccing an acoustic with the TB-1 but I suspect that it could do a decent job depending on the acoustic and mic placement.

From Harvey Gerst:

Marshall MXL-V77 $600 This is the top of the line Marshall tube mic, and it's very similar to the TLM-103 in sound (with a little more proximity effect). It's a very nice tube mic, especially at the price. There was a 1 dB difference in the level between the two V77s we tested, but the sound was identical.

They now sell for $309 at 8thStreet.

Neither.

Check out the RODE NTK.... your search is over. ;)

I guess the NTK is a little bit out of my budget... aren´t the RODE assembled with chineeeese parts anyway :)!
