Any body here use Taxi?

Whats the general take on them?

Any other songwriter contests or forums recommended?

To paraphrase someone else who answered this question in the past.
"One of the points taxi makes is you shouldnt have to pay someone to promote you, they should be making the money from their sales through promotion."
Then taxi turns around and wants I think it is 300.00 for promoting you?

$ 300 the first year, $200 per year afterwards. $5 per song sent in for submission.

Buck, I followed your links with interest.
Here is another thing about taxi if I remember correctly, I could easily be wrong
but I did call them about three years ago to ask them this question.
When you submit a song you choose the genre it is to be considered under. They may say it does not fit this genre. I asked them would they then consider the song under whatever genre they thought it would fit. The answer, no. I would have to resubmit (for 5 bucks of course) the same song under a different genre and it may come back again that it is in the wrong genre.
Now what kind of way is that to do buisness???
Alot of my songs if anyone has heard them are sometimes quite difficult to pigeonhole and I didnt like taxis answer to the above. I couldnt keep spending five dollars just to find out what genre taxi thought my song belonged in????
Remember this is three years, almost 4 years ago and my recollections could be wrong.

Nope you're not wrong.

I've found the same problem with my music. Some songs are just hard to catagorize. My subscription runs out I believe this month. I won't be renewing. TAXI is a good concept, but it just dosen't gel with me.

My wife and I attended a Taxi seminar here in Miami and heard Laskow's pitch. I think that the man is a charlatan fleecing amateur songwriters and smiling all the way to the bank. Selling people false hope is not illegal, but it is, in my opinion, immoral. Ask him for a list of cuts - you will get "that's confidential".
No sale.
