I have my 488 set up like an outboard PA system going from the monitor outs to my stereo receiver so I can play guitar while listening to it all through my stereo speakers.

My question is:
Is it cleaner to have the sound coming through the monitor section with the (ST 9-10) switch depressed or should I only have the (GRP1-2) switch pressed?
See Example: http://home.comcast.net/~mgiese1/monitors.htm

Both GRP 1-2 and ST 9-10 seem to have the same exact effect although the ST 9-10 which is for the group signal is effected by the master. I’m just trying to get the cleanest signal for a live output situation? What’s the difference between them as far as monitoring situations?

Advanced Thanks
Mike

Ok, I think I just answered my own question.
It seems the (ST 9-10) or better known as the stereo channel(s) monitor switch is for monitoring the stereo channel(s) independently "with out" direct signal because I’m only able to here the wet signal from the stereo effect loop when the ST 9-10 button is pressed in.

Only the GRP1-2 monitor button lets you hear both the direct signal and the wet signal.

I didn’t figure this out till I put some headphones on and then it became more apparent what was going on.

If I'm wrong please correct me?
