Tascam US-144 - Line out to Speakers or Phones??

Hey

I've had this interface a while but upon looking at the manual it doesn't mention Line Out and what should be connected to it.. I assumed speakers, however the manual says powered speakers into the phones socket which seems odd.

Tis this interface.

If I run my Creative speakers right out of the Line out at full volume its not loud at all, so I need to run them through the Creative sub/amp first? Or if to get monitors I would need powered monitors.. or passive and an amp?

Is the manual right? I would have thought line out was for speakers and phones, for headphones?

Any help appreiciated

I have the us-144 mkii and I have phones out of the phones, as suspected....from the line outs I go into an amp that powers passive speakers
 
I saw that in the book. It's gotta be a mistake. I run powered monitors from the line outs & headphones from the headphone port....works fine
