Ahh, someone help me, I am having serious issues with my US 122. When I use it to play back a track in Sonar 6, it skips real bad and makes it impossible to lay down a track. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it is unbearable. I have been reading online and there were a bunch of different solutions to the problem but I don't know what to do. I tried using a patch that microsoft put out but it wouldn't let me install it because I was using sp2.

I tried using a different soundcard for the playback but Sonar said it wasn't compatible. I even borrowed a friends external soundblaster to use as a playback card and it didn't work.I really want to fix this as soon as possible and get back to recording because it was a NIGHTMARE.

I have updated my drivers, closed all other programs, used ASIO4ALL, I tried everything I can think of. It is so frustrating.

The US-122 has a 'monitor thru' feature that lets you hear what you're putting down along with any previously recorded tracks.

This means as long as you have this feature activated you can increase the audio buffer size in Sonar until you get smooth performance and still track and overdub while not being bothered by latency. On mine I have the direct switch on, the mono switch on and use the 'direct monitor' knob to hear the instrument I am currently overdubbing.

Well I figured out a solution. I just unplugged all my usb mouse and just left the us 122 plugged in. I am on a laptop and it's not a big deal I just use my touchpad. It makes sense because since the us 122 is usb powered it needs all the power it can get, no more skipping issues.

Did you even try my solution?

Tascam built that feature in to the US-122 specifically for a problem like yours.

Did you find the page in Sonar where you can adjust the audio buffer size?

I was using the monitor thru thing, the rca ouputs right on the interface? That is what I was using. It wasn't a matter of latency it was a matter of it not getting enough power. I think it should have an external power supply but it doesn't. Probably because they want it to be viewed as portable and such, but it kills your battery pretty quick.
