My recording setup is a Tascam US-122 audio interface with a Dell
Laptop computer, using Adobe Audition software. The US-122
works great for recording single tracks, but I am having a
strange problem with overdubbing.
In the multi-track view I inserted a wave file of a drummer playing
at 120 bps to use for timekeeping. Next I sent the output of that
track to my earphones so I could listen to the drummer while
recording myself to another track playing saxophone. The two
wave files are out-of-synch (latency problem), but here is the
strange part: the recorded track is slightly ahead of the drummer
track.
It seems logical that a delay in the sound being sent to the
earphones would cause the recorded track to be slightly behind
the drummer, but how can my playing end up being recorded slightly
ahead of the drummer I was listening to?
Any suggestions on how to deal with this latency problem in
overdubbing with a US-122 would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
