Hi. I have a Tascam Portastudio 464 that's been sitting idle in its box for quite some time (i.e., years). It's in cosmetically mint condition w/no history of problems and, when I decided today to wake it from hibernation, it powered up just fine with the LCD working normally; however, while it fast forwards and rewinds normally, playback is erratic. Specifically, when I press play, it will do one of the following three things: play without stopping, play for a few second and then stop, or not play at all. Not sure what might be causing this playback glitch so, if any of you know or have experienced similar behavior from your Tascam 464 (or similar device), then I'd appreciate your feedback. Not sure if it matters but the cassette I put in there was pretty old, too, but was clean and seemed free of defects. Thanks!
