TASCAM porta 02 MKII no input

I'm not getting signal from any input. No action from the indicator lights, though they do flash on briefly when the unit is powered on. Any suggestions?
I also have an MF-P01 with the same problem.
 
What are you plugging into the Tascam as your source of sound? That's where I would look first, specially as you are saying you get no sound on the MF-P01 either. Maybe either mike or mike lead is broken.
 
For a Porta Studio to be missing all that many inputs that would indicate that a power supply is missing. It is possible for a person to blow out all the inputs with a guitar amp plugged into it but then they did it to themselves. Maximum input is +/- 14V while a guitar amp can put out +/- 50 V on some of them. What do you think will happen?
Put in a 1KHz sine wave at -10dBV and make sure switch positions are correct and trim set properly.
If you need more help I can have a look at it if you are near Chicago.
