tascam porta 02 help!!!

hopefull this will be a quick fix. i'm not really sure where to begin. but, on my tascam porta 02 track 2 has stopped recording. i've made sure everything is set correctly over and over, and still nothing. everything shows up and comes through while playing/recording as normal... but, nothing on playback. all other tracks are working fine. only track 2 has the problem. any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried old tapes to see if track 2 is indeed playing back? with all other tracks turned down exept track 2 is there any meter movement on playback?

Try recording on track 2, then flip the tape over and you should hear sound backwards on track 3. Likewise, record something on track 3, then flip the tape and listen for it backwards on track 2. This way you can be sure if it's not recording or not playing back.

thanks for the help beck. i tried those things, and much to my disappointment track two doesn't even play on old tapes anymore. have any idea what might have went wrong?
