Hello everyone, I'm midway through the process of rebuilding an MTS-1000. I've replaced all electrolytic capacitors, the 3.7V battery, fuses and fired the thing up. Transport functions work but I'm getting nothing on the bottom line of the screen. I'm beginning to suspect one of my EEPROMs has gone bad. Does anyone here still have access to the .bin files mentioned in this thread? I would love to try my hand at programing a replacement EEPROM, and I'd appreciate any feedback from someone who's done this successfully. Also, I'd of course be happy to pay for a set of spare EEPROMS or trade for a few homemade PW5MD serial cables.

Appreciate any insights/responses whatsoever - really hoping to get this beautiful machine working again to sync a 688 with a 238!!

Also, if anyone has a copy of the service manual I'd echo that request - would gladly pay for a copy!

Here's the 1.21/1.22 and V2 ROM images. I don't have an MTS-1000 so I can't vouch for their integrity, but I did keep a copy of the files just in case.

More troubleshooting and it appears my original EEPROMs are OK. Definitely going to try and make backup ROMs from those BIN files - I think that is the only failure that would totally brick this thing.

It took a very long time, but I ended up to disassemble and clean each key contact and spray a bunch of contact cleaner around the screen cabling before it jumped back to life. Here to add another account of one of these suddenly working after a few days plugged in (& new 3.7V battery, recapped, etc.).

Also, if anyone has a Tascam IF-1000 that they'd be willing to sell me, please shoot me a message. Would really like to have parallel compatibility and haven't been able to find one listed.
