Tascam m208 mixer phantom power

I'm a real newbie, so be patent. I bought a TASCAM M 208 assuming that
the 8 Xlr plugs on the back had Phantom Power. There is no on-off switch
for Phantom Power and my mics don't work. Is the equipment broken
or do I need a separate Phantom Power box>

From memory I don't think the M208 has phantom power, if you need a separate phantom box there are quite a few cheaper ones on the market. You only need the phantom for mics requiring phantom. So when you say "my mics don't work" are the mics not requiring phantom working?
