I got mine for 50 without the PSU...

Get ready for an adventure if you do it...If you can track down a PSU eventually it'll likely set you back 100~200, and likely there won't be a cable and the last known source of the connectors and hoods no longer has one of the ends and no hoods.

I wouldn't advise it unless you are in it for the long haul.

Tascam M-520 Console Manual ?

Hey there;

I just got one of the Tascam M-520 boards and am having a heck of a time finding the original manual for it. Looks like I have everything else, power supply and cable, but no manual.

Does anyone have one of these in PDF format (or other) or know where I can get one? Also would be cool to have an original Tascam brochure for this beast as well if anyone has.,?

Thanks;

AK

You can still get the manual from Teac in Montebello, California.

A couple jpegs and a pdf located here...don't know if the pdf goes with the jpegs but it is better than nothin'.

Here is my "new" (as of last Friday) M-520 in its raw, pre-purchase state;

I had to drive 4 hours each way to pick up this baby, but it was WELL worth it~!

I read (savored?) SweetBeats posts about these venerable old consoles before, during and after my purchase and then once I got it home (it lived in my Caravan over the weekend 'til I figured out where to put it!), I opened an old book of mine on Home Recording Techniques by one or two of the guys who were involved with the hit '80's album from Men At Work (book not in front of me at moment).

Well, on the very first page of the book, one of the authors is leaning against a console in his studio and I thought that it looked awfully familiar. Taking a magnifying glass out (aging eyes, you see) and carefully scanning the console image, THEN comparing that to the M-512 sitting right next to me, I confirmed that indeed it WAS a Tascam M-520~! This is a book that I have had on my bookshelf for possibly 25 or so years? Cool.,

This is gonna be fun and I can highly recommend this to anyone else who gets a glimmer in their eye (or heart) when in the presence of some old (classic) piece of gear. For many years it was old Fender Deluxe Reverbs, tube preamps (or anything tube based) and such and now I am leaning back towards another old love, recording. And nowadays there are SO many amazing deals on Analog Mix Desks.

Jeez., ya' just gotta LOVE the mass mooooove to digital., :-)
