I think this is the DAW controller fit for a pimp! LOL JK anyone try this kick ass piece of gear yet?

I know there is someone browsing this BBS who has tried this outstanding piece of equipment that got 10.0 ratings across the board on musicians friend.

It's going to be a while before you get any decent reviews of this thing. I'm watching it myself. May have to resubscribe to Electronic Musician magazine. I'm sure they'll do it soon. SOS will probably do it too. Watching.......

I've owned the FW-1884 for about 2 weeks now and I'm having a ball with it. I've replaced my Maudio Omni station/delta 66 with it and to my ears, the Tascam just sounds better.

I'm using it with Cubase SX 2 (with latest updates) as a Mackie Control emulated device as Cubase has not been updated yet for the 1884. I've read on the Cubase site that another Cubase update is planned for February, so hopefully the 1884 will be included in that update.

I was a bit weary of using a firewire device with my PC as I have tried USB devices in the past and had issues, but so far everything seems to be o.k. No audio dropouts or anything. Just had to make sure I had the lastest updates from Microsoft, Cubase and Tascam.

The SOS review requires you to register to gain access to it (in the November 2003 issue) but they basically call it an excellent all in one box solution.

Cool! Finally someone who owns one!! I am using a tascam US-122 and I have to agree. So far it is the best sounding card I have yet used at that price range. I am sure the 1884 blows it away. You should not see any trouble with firewire as it has vastly more bandwidth than USB. I can't wait to get mine!!

Ya - I was mostly worried about stability issues with firewire vs PCI.
