Hi guys,
I'm looking at the Tascam FW 1082 and I like everything I see. Does anyone have any experience with this unit?
I use a desktop PC with Windoze Vista 32 sp2 (ugh) 2.9 GhZ AMD triple core and 2 Gig RAM. Recording material would be everything from acoustic fingerstyle guitar, vocals, as well as bass, keyboards, turntables and whatever else I can get my hands on to record. I use cheap APEX condensers for acoustic instruments and vox, DI for the bass until I get an amp, keys would probably be MIDI.
Just wondering what your experiences with this device have been.
Cheers!

I have one. I use it as a control surface with protools. But I have used it with cubase and as a control surface goes, it works alot better in cubase. Never recorded anything with it. It was rediculous to get drivers for vista. The o es on the website would install right. But with a disk I assume it wouldn't be a problem.

asta la vista

Thanks, I've heard nightmares about most interfaces fighting with vista. I spoke to my computer retailer and they suggested setting up a dual boot so I could use XP for audio purposes as there are more drivers and support for it. I would probably use Cubase as it is familiar to me so its good to know it works well with the unit.
I would like to record through the device so I'm curious as to how the pres and converters sound.

I have this unit and it works perfect with Ableton if that helps. Really great device for the money..

I use one with XP (soon to go Windows 7) and SONAR 7 XL. It works great.
