Tascam FW 1082

well i hope i'm doing this right - i'm new to the thread thing.
i got a Tascam fw 1082 via ebay.
i cannot get it to control anything through cubase le or sx.
i've tried several computers.
the gigabit3 it was shipped with crashes all of them but i know this thing is supposed to work with cubase.
it just sits here with the stop light on.
none of the controls do anything in cubase except make the meter jump when i touch the board.
i read a post from someone else with the same problem but didn't see a reply to it.
i watched a utube entry about hooking this up, followed all the steps but my luck holds out inasmuch it aint workin' for me.
is it broke??
 
ok... well there's two separate issues... does the computer acknowledge the interface... and setting up within cubase...

the first is making sure the drivers are installed etc... when you hit the controll panel tab on the unit does a tascam screen show up on the puter???? no??? then you need to redo this...

assuming the controll screen is showing... then the next thing is setting it up with in cubase... which is all done under the devices tab...
 
fw 1082 cont. finally

the control panel button does work.
i followed what advice i could glean via the internets and went thru devices and picked the mackie emulation etc.
i've not looked at it all for a few weeks for various reasons not the least of which i'm so dissapointed that the damn thing don't work.
it only serves to validate my general "my luck" style cynisizm.

i did get it to respond to some MIDI stuff a bit but i'm not running any MIDI devices now as i wanna get the AD interface part goin before i even bother with that.

i so long to move a slider and see the one on the screen move as well.!!
 
under the devices tab in cubase you'll see something to the effect of device set up and vst connections...if the controll panel button brings up the controll page then you're half way there... two things i can offer... first to paraprase... anything worth doing... is harder than the rest of the shit... and second a wise man once said... Read The Fukn Manual...

BTW i read the manual,, it told me i was an idiot so nothing new there.
