Tascam DP 02CF vs DP 008 + recording guitar with stompboxes

New at recording.. so excuse me if my question is too silly...

Which one do you recommend Tascam DP 02CF or the brand new Tascam DP 008?

What are the main (and practical) differences?

One more question (extremely important for me): may I record guitar with stompboxes straight into the input of the Tascam (any of them: DP 02Cf or 008)? I mean without mics, just input.

Just glossed over the spec for both and the DP02Cf only has line level inputs which mean you would have to run your guitar through a preamp or similar to get the signal up to line level. The DP008 has line level inputs, but also a "guitar level" input which means the preamp is already incorporated and you can plug directly into the unit. And yes, guitar to stomp boxes to recorder is fine
