Tascam DP-004 newbie question

Hi there,

I just got my Tascam DP-004 today but I can't get it to go in record mode.

I have done all of the steps to start recording on a track but it will not go into record mode. I press the Track Rec button.. then the playback button and REC at the same time (as the instructions say) but nothing happens.

What is supposed to happen is the Track Rec button stops blinking and stays lit constantly, letting you know you are recording.

But it stays blinking the whole time.

I know this sounds vague but if anyone has a Tascam DP-004 can you help? thank you so much!
 
Do you have your input settings set correctly? I own a 004, but it's been a long while since I've used it. I never had a problem with it not recording.

I've never bothered with it, but have you searched for a Tascam help line or anything?
 
got it

Hi and thanks for your reply. I figured out the problem. It was that I was trying to dub into the demosong. I thought the demosong was there to use to play along with and record other parts. I see now it was just to listen to and to learn to mix. (d'oh!)

I realized it wouldn't work because it was not an option to record on an already existing song.Thanks!
