Linux Man...
Has anyone used the big boards made by tascam, not the digital ones, but the the MK2600, MK1600, or so on. I have seen them at a few shops and I really like them. They seem to be on huge sales right now, since tascam is phasing them out. I am thinking about getting one, they seem to be nice for recording, but I know very little about them.

Yo Mike:

Before you buy any Tascam board, make sure you HEAR IT and handle the sliders, etc.

I was really disappointed in a Tascam MKII dual tape deck that was supposed to be the best for recording/studio, etc. But, I must have gotten a box that was never grounded. Pop, Pop, snap, click, ping: everytime I pushed a switch, noise was produced and that meant my mix-downs were like Snap, Crackle, and Pop. I also have a Sony Tape deck and when I'd mix to that, NO Problema. So, I bought another Sony ES quality box and it is very quiet and a very good box to mix into because it has both automated and manual input control, I can make the mix hotter if I want to.

So, I guess I'm disallusioned with Tascam products, as well as their manuals; but, when I think of it, there are no really UNDERSTANDABLE manuals out there.

Listen and try before you buy.
