Does the Tascam 644 have a built in 48 phantom power supply?

no.
the only cassette based unit with phantom power is the tascam 488 MkII

tascam 488 mk2...

no.
the only cassette based unit with phantom power is the tascam 488 MkII

Is this really true?...I was wondering if there ever was a portastudio made with phantom power?..
everyone i've asked so far,..told me the tascam 488 mk2 does NOT have phantom power. Can anyone out there CONFIRM this?

thanks for this confirmation,...Is there an actual phantom power switch on the 488 mk2? Because everytime I ask someone who is selling one, if there is....??..they tell me No,..they do not see a phantom power switch. Is it built right into the recorder (on the inside) without needing a switch? thanks.

I believe it's built in. I don't remember there being a switch for channels one and two. I never used it as I record using dynamic mics. I just know it definitely had phantom power.

tascam 488 mk2...phantom power for condenser mics

So,..there's only "phantom power" on channels 1 & 2...???
Just asking because I would like to be able to use 3 to 4 condenser mics.
