I cant get track 8 to record. The signal is being picked up on the recorder but under the track 8 on the screen, nothing. And track 7 records but picks up every other track that is playing as well. I have no idea what the problem is, I am trying to record them the same way as every other track but these 2 tracks wont work right. Any ideas? I have tried everything.

When recording a track, how do you lower the volume of the track that you are recording. All I can hear is me singing in the headphones when I record the vocal tracks and I cant figure out a way to lower the volume in the headphones without lowering the input signal. I am recording in the track 2 input for every tracks 3-8 so I can use the preamp (which is necessary to get it to the appropriate input signal).

Is there a downloadable manual for this recorder on the internet? That would be very helpful. I dont have time to send away for one.

I've had two 488's and think I understand "some" of your problems.

When you record one track, or two tracks, or even three tracks at a time, you must put those tracks into CUE mode when you wish to add a track, and after you add a track, you have to put that track into the CUE mode if you wish to continue adding tracks.

If you don't do this, you will get gnarled sounds and screwed up sound or lose previously recorded tracks.
