Recording on the dual tracks on a Tascam 24SD

I have assigned tracks 13/14 ready for recording. I followed the manual to make the assignment but no signal when I pressed the record button in the track.
Can anyone advise, please?

Do you have tracks 13/14 assigned to the correct input?

Ok. Just to be sure.

Check:

1. Press ASSIGN.
2. Select the INPUTS you are using (A–H).
3. Use the cursor to select Track 13/14
4. Press ENTER to link them.
5. Make sure 13/14 is set as a STEREO pair if you need stereo.

If the track has no input assigned, it will arm but receive no signal.
