tascam 48 counter roller

They said to check in next month.

They also said they may announce next month that it will not be available
anymore.

I'm sad to see a lot of these parts disappear, but I can't really blame them.

After all, some of these machines are 30 years old.
 
If everyone were to contact them and constantly be looking for parts, maybe the Big Wigs in Japan will get the message that these machines are still alive and well. They told me if a certain quota is not met for a particular part, they discontinue it. so basically if orders are not placed they will discontinue. Try to buy directly from Tascam and avoid the people on e-bay who may be suggesting a part is discontinued. Call Tascam and at least try.

The part in question; is this the entire counter roller assembly or just the rubber roller?

I would assume that if it's the entire assembly, that part would only be available from the original parts over-run that was done when the 48 was still being manufactured and as such, I don't understand why TASCAM parts is telling you to check back with them in a month or only now making possible statements that it is officially no longer available. They should have been able to give you a definitive yes or no answer if they still have it.

If it's just the rubber part, that could be resurfaced.

yeah,

I'm going to have Terry re-do my rollers.

having factory parts is nice, but don't want to have to check ebay
every day for who knows how long.
