Tascam 246

Just purchased a 246 and everything seems to work great except when I playback the tape that I recorded tracks too, it’s sounds like there are volume inconsistencies. Sounds like pumping across the left right stereo field. Any help would be appreciated

Update, it’s channel 1. The volume is inconsistent. Channel 2 sounds fine
