firstly, yous are great. i like it here
I've had a 238 for near a year now and all has been good since i calibrated it (properly, screwed it the first time round!). All channels were working fine, head looks good, alignment is ok (as far as i can tell). Last time i used it it was perfect, a dream
Turned it on today for the first time in maybe 3-4 weeks and channel 1 is not working at all. No playback from the tape, and it's not even registering any input when in record arm, no sound nor VUs light up. This has made me happy because i don't think it's a head problem now, but sad because it doesn't work!
Anyway, I'm very up for opening it up and checking it out but asking for guidance as i have seen all yous here to be very helpful people. So, does anyone have any pointers as to what should be looked out for? Or have been in the same position and could share some experience?
