Thank you Beck,
Here is couple of question I had, But I think Im going to go a different route:
Im trying to figure out how to hook up a mx-80 to my m-208 so that the sliders and controls work. I already have a peavey univerb 2 patched into the EFF and back threw the EFF 1 and 2. Ive also got a guitar plugged threw the FLB with an additional power amp and plug into the back of the mixer (m-208) but the only way I can get volume is by turning the FLB and Gain all the way to the right I cant get any volume changes threw the slider.
Help would be greatly appreciative. Ive got all the modern plug and plug stuff but I just wasnt getting the sound I wanted so I started reading and putting stuff together for about 2 years now.
Thanks

The manual should tell you how to do this, but have you connected the tape outs to the tape ins of the 208? is the tape button on the channel in the correct position? I think when pressed the tape signal goes to the FLB (foldback) send? When up goes to the channel fader? It has been a long time since I used a 208.

Just looked it up: There is a full manual here with flow charts that may help.

Alan.

The problem may be is that the mixer was not designed to have a high impedance guitar plugged into it.It was designed forlow impedance mics and line in levels -10 DBV,(300 Millivolts or .3volts vs.a hi impedance/ low level < 100mv guitar.I'm speaking of passive pickups. If that is the case you are loading down the output of the pickups.

Thanks Alan, I have a manual but what I dont understand is what does the other end of the RCA jack plug into? Do I use an adaptor (rca to 1/4). I referring to page 4. Thanks for having patience with me while Im learning this mixer.

Which other end are we talking about? have a look on page 11 it shows a typical 4 track and 2 track connected. Basically you go from the direct outs or the sub group outs to the recorder ins, then from the recorder outs to the tape ins. The "Tape" button on the channels decides if the taped signal goes to the eq / faders and to the stereo outs, or the taped signal goes to the monitoring part of the console. This is so you can monitor the taped signal while using the mixer / group to record another track. When mixing all the tape returns should go to the eq/faders/stereo outs.

Not sure I have a good picture of how you’ve got this set up. You don’t have the guitar patched into the jack on the back labeled FLB, do you? I assume you’ve got you guitar plugged into one of the regular input channels (1 -8) and have the FLB output going to another power amp for monitoring... hopefully. Is that correct?

For recording the FLB (Foldback) buss is used as a cue mix, but you don’t really need it for that if you’re working alone. I use mine as a second effects send. For live sound you can use the FLB for a stage monitor mix. The FLB is pre-fader, so moving the channel faders won’t impact the level coming from the FLB output. The FLB is designed to be an independent mix.

Are you having issues getting signals from the mixer inputs reaching the main stereo or program buss outputs?

The best place to input the MX-80 mic/line mixer is into the RCA TAPE inputs on two channels of the M-208. You do it that way to bypass the internal pres on the M-208 for the cleanest signal path. So It's a simple matter of going from the left and right RCA outs on the MX-80 to channel 1 & 2 RCA tape inputs of the M-208. Also switch the output line level on the MX-80 to -10dBv.

OK I have just realised that you are trying to connect a MX80 mixer to a 208 mixer, I can't work out what you are trying to do? Why 2 mixers?
