I'm a newbie, so please feel free to pile on.
My TASCAM 106 is hissing on channels 3 and 4 when input switches are on "ATT" and "LINE", but are fine on "MIC". The hiss gets lower on "LINE" than "ATT", and are slightly different between channels 3 and 4.
But everything gets quiet when I insert a mic into each noisy channel.
Other data: board is connected to 3440 TEAC with OUTPUT SELECT set to either SOURCE or SYNC, INPUTs set to MIC. Channels 1 and 2 are quiet, but don't have the word "PHONO" in the INPUT section at the top of the board, if that makes ANY difference.
Am I fretting over some little unimportant thing, or a good cleaning is in order, or just what?
