Hey,
I've got this little crate amp that I bought as my first amp about 6 years ago. It's a nice little amp, i think it's called the gx15, or something. It's only 15 watts with an 8 inch speaker. Played nice for awhile...but all of a sudden every time I plugged it in It would stop grounding and make this LOUD hum...like overload or something. I took it apart today and just wiggled everything around, and that much stopped...but I still have this annoying hiss that only starts to go away if I put my finger on the metal part of the patch cord. And it's a brand new patch cord that I myself have tested. I know it works on all my other amps.
This seems to be a grounding problem but im not totally sure how to correct it...anyone have any good ideas? I would just take it in but the amp nowdays can be bought for under 100, I figure'd I might as well buy a new one unless I can fix it myself. Thanks in advance,
