No but a lot of bands that I work with in live sound have come through with one....It's good if the sound system that your going to work through hasn't got such effects.
In my case I have the bells and whistles and can better use these FX while you the singer can considerate on the vocals, but on the occasion that you need these FX and the PA company doesn't have such things you'll be golden. ~ Just be sure to turn it off when addressing the audience.... I've witnessed this mistake many times.

I used it on the gig last night pretty amazing, I'll have to tweak it that it doesn't pick up the band so much to give it false triggers.
 
Only click it on when you need it, and when you do that - position your self (microphone) so to isolate from any thing on stage that is extremely loud.
