Ok i've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what im doin wrong. First lets start with My hardware

Im runin out of my Yamaha S90 Keybord into my Yamaha 01x. My Computer See's the O1x and im able to record a single track using Sony Sound forge 8.0.
I bought the floor modle of the o1x from Guiltar center on clearance last october and did not get the cd's with it(but sence the amount of money i saved was enough to buy lots of other gear and softwere i'm not gona complain)

Any way Im able to record a single track to the Hard Drive. The problem im having is A single track just wont cut it. Im writing and playing for Piano and Strings and will be recordign each individual string track as an over dub. I have Pro Tools LE but I cant use it Every time i light it up i get errors. I have disable all ports all perifiral divices re-installed. And yes i do have the stupid little m box hooked up at the time. I told a friend about my pro-tools problem I was having, He being a cakewalk fan gave me a copy of Sonar 5.0 on the agreement that if it worked and did what i needed I run down to Guitar Center and buy it, If it didnt do the job I just saved my self $500 and can spend that on someting that will work.

I cant figure out how to multi track in SoundForge, I import the files into Sonar PE 5.0 and get no audio for playback(even after bouncing the tacks, saving as an mp3 and several other file types.) I can get the midi samples that came with the softwhere to play so i know its not an I/O issue. Sonar wont even see My o1x and i cant adjust the I/O channels in the options.

So basicly what im askin is how can i record Multipal tracks each one at a time Lay them all on top of each other mix master and bounce with the gear i have and the softwere at my fingertips?

I think its time to go Grab a smoke a beer and hope some one knows more abotu this than i do.

Thanks
Rich

You missed out on a whole bunch of free stuff when you walked out the door of Guitar Center without 'the cd's'.

Here's what I found on Yamahas web site:

"The bundled software suite includes: Studio Manager, providing visual reference and control for every parameter directly from a computer screen; three VST plug-ins for enhanced vocal processing, pitch correction and mastering; and a VST compatible 01X channel module, which mirrors all DSP hardware functions, and enables parameters from Studio Manager to be copied directly into the VST hosting application."

My recommendation is that before you do anything else or splash out for anymore software is that you get that 01x mounted in your system correctly. Go here which is as far as I care to dig on your behalf on the Yamaha site.

Getting a good deal involves more than just dollars off list price. It also involves a basic working knowledge of the product that you are buying, what it does and why. I would LOVE to have an 01x, and would be able to put it to good use which is why I have no respect for those here with more money than sense.

Oh yeah --- unless they've radically updated Sound Forge it's a stereo editing program. That means you can't record more than one stereo track at a time with it.
