Syncing Sonar, MTPAV and Tascam DM24

Greetings!

I'm having trouble syncing several pieces of gear together, and am wondering if someone can point me towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

I run Sonar 1.3.1 into a MOTU2408MKII, and am using a new Tascam DM24 and would like to sync them together using a MTPAV. My head is now swimming in manuals, and I'm hoping someone could give me some guidance.

PRETTY PLEASE??? I've posted this question to every discussion group I can find.

What have you tried and what isnt working right? I'm guessing you will want to have the Sonar be the master and have the other units slaving to it. Make sure they are all set to the same Time Code format and go.

I realize it isnt quite that simple but you dont tell us what the specific problem is.

I guess what I want to do is have Sonar drive everything, as you have said. Trouble is that the docs on the MTPAV are not terribly clear. (To me.) Let me list it all this way:

I have Sonar, running on my PC, with the drivers installed. I can see the MTPAV, but I don't know which port to select. It seems to be getting MIDI data ok. I have the SMPTE out of the MTPAV hooked to the TimeCode in on the DM24. For some reason, I still don't see the TC clock on the DM24. That's how it stands now. Further, I can't seem to load the "Routing" application on to my PC for the AV, so I think I have the routing set up incorrectly. What I'd like to see is TC on the DM24.

Does this make sense?

It sounds like you are going about it the right way. I would double check and make sure everyone is set for their master/slave role and that they are all on the same SMPTE format.

Some units prefer to be master. If you cant get sonar to be the master try using the DM24 just to see if it will work. I used to have an ADAT slaved to Cakewalk and it was pretty easy to get going as I recall.

Does the DM24 use midi for sync or does it have it's own cable?

What are the PORT choices for the MTPAV in Sonar? If you are sending midi to the wrong port that could be the problem.

I wish I could help more but I dont know the specific settings for those machines.
