i'm currently editing a music video that i shot for this local group. on my timeline i have the music and video synched but, when i render it, it plays some parts out of synch. i tried rendering it uncompressed and compressed as avi files. the audio is captured at 48/16 with the camera so i ripped the song off the cd at 48/16. it matches up perfectly when i play it back in vegas, but when i render it out random parts are out of synch.

what could be a solution to this problem?

jugalo180 , you'll need to give us some more info.

ok spin

i captured my footage in vegas video. i ripped the song to be used in the video at 48hz. since that what my camera captures audio as. when i'm finished editing with all of my cuts and synching, i play the video back. when i play the rendered file in media player the audio is not synched up. i like editing better in vegas so what i have been doing lately is editing in vegas and rendering the video with no audio. i then import the ripped audio and since the video was already synched to it in vegas, i just have to drop it in the timeline and render it out. it plays perfect once it comes from premiere. i render it out using the same avi compression. i don't know what i'm doing wrong in vegas.

Wow, me neither. I do the same basic thing as you describe and it always comes out perfectly when rendered.

Is it possible that you are editing the video but not the audio? Naaaa, that would be too obvious... maybe there's some way the audio edits are undoing during the rendering process? My head hurts...

my head hurts also

i'm going to run a few more tests to see what the problem could be. maybe it's because i'm rendering 4 min uncompressed and during playback in media player it's buffering. i have to double check my premiere settings to see if the avi is set for uncompressed also.

nope

i haven't pinpointed the problem exactly, but it seems that when i take the same video and the audio track and render it in a different program the timing is right. i even partitioned my hard drive to put vegas on it's own little drive but, that didn't work either. i just finished doing a full recovery on my cpu. i only installed a few applications, i'm going to see if it works any better now.
