sync protools and reason running on mac and pc respectively

I've read about rewire and its ability to sync Reason and Pro Tools up to eachother, but is there certain gear I would need to use rewire between two computers? I have a Pro Tools Mix 24 system on a mac and Reason running on the PC, and I want to keep them separate so my mac doesn't get bogged down.
 
I'm not really familliar with Rewire but in your case you should be able to sync up the two programs using a midi cable and Midi Time Code. You just need a midi interface on each computer.
