Sx3 is out for over six weeks now yet there is little here about it.

Is it so good that there is nothing really to say about it or is no one interested?

I don't think its out yet... it says you can only pre-order it on the steinberg website.

No it's out. There is someone here that is using it. Just do a search and you should find it..

I have no immediate plans to upgrade.... I don't see anything in the new feature list to make it worthwhile shelling out another coupla hundred for....

Hey Bruce - What about the added support for external rack units ?

I thought that might interest you a bit ?

It's definitely out and I've been using it for about a week now.

Things that I like:

Enhanced freeze funtionality. I haven't had any problems with this new functionality. You won't hear that story at the Cubase.net forums though.

Color coding of tracks.

In place editing. This has worked fine for me, but some users report problems when adding in notes, etc.

It's been running solidly for me and I don't find it totally "unusable" as many other users seem to. I actually haven't really experienced any show stopping bugs yet, and I didn't in SX 2 either. FWIW, Steinberg announced that a maintenance release is coming in late November and truly seems focused on fixing old problems and any new ones that pop up.

Not really, Dave -- since I pretty much use it only as a multitrack editing tool, and mix externally, that feature has virtually no use to me.... if Steiny provided the upgrade free and added it as a value-added feature, maybe, but that feature list is not worth the upgrade price IMO.

And fixed-bugs should not be part of a feature list. They should be supplying those fixes to SX2 users free.

That's one thing that kills me about s/w -- it's the only industry where that's accepted practice. Can you imagine buying a car, finding out that they forgot to include brakes at the factory, then being told 1) you'll have to wait until next month, when the next version comes out... and 2) and oh yeah, it'll cost you $750 to fix the problem that was our responsibility in the first place.........

Gimme a fucking break!!!!!!! Drives me nuts.................!
