So right now i'm working with Nuendo 1.6 - Tascam US428 and a PC. Apparantly I can't upgrade to Nuendo 5 without buying a whole new package, thanks a lot Steinberg. I'm stuck between upgrading to the latest version of Nuendo or switching to ProTools or Logic, so I have some questions.

I need:
- 4 inputs (minimum 2 mic's, no need for fantom, i use pré-amps)
- 2 headphone-outputs
- very good audio-editing
- midi = no need for, i don't use it
- Nuendo has the option to make a Mastering project, i will still need this.

I have:
PC
Tascam us428
Nuendo 1.6
Some mic préamps
I also have a MacBook pro 13" (has no firewire!!)

Some questions:
1. very important: I also use (very old) VST-drum sessions (w[remove]ww.soundonsound.com/sos/jan01/articles/steinbergvst.htm]Steinberg/Wizoo VST Drum Sessions) These were complete drumtracks made for cubase/nuendo, live recorded with the option to edit all tracks. I will need a very good alternative for this where I can edit everything (HiHat, kick, cymbals...). What's the closest thing to these drum sessions nowadays on the market?

2. Whats the difference between AVID PRO TOOLS MBOX PRO and DIGIDESIGN DIGI 003 RACK FACTORY?

3. What are the minimum requirements for my PC to be able to run the latest Nuendo, Logic or ProTools?

4. If you have other suggestions regarding my needs, please tell me.

Cubase 6 is out. It has a ton more functionality than Nuendo 1 and even more cool stuff that Nuendo 5 doesn't have. It's only $600 or so. I'm still on Nuendo 3 and I'm thinking of moving to Cubase because I really don't do enough movie post to take advantage of all the stuff that makes Nuendo cost 5 times as much as Cubase.

The latest versions of everything need windows 7. XP is dead and not supported anymore and vista just didn't work very well.

Closing this thread as I am switching to Pro Tools and a new audio interface.
