Nice guitar work!
Mix sounds great, mabey to much effect on the vox?JMHO

I downloaded it,glad I finally got to hear your stuff!

Really nice!

Best to you,
Pete

Wow,
Nice cover. The rhythm section is superb. I loved how the bass is tucked in and sits perfectly(to my ears).

I've come to expect superior git chops from you and I wasn't disapointed at all:)

The only thing I heard that might be looked at is the reverb on the vocal. It sounded too big and that little echo didn't seem to jibe. jmho.

Again, nice cover,

Theron.

Oh yeah!Love the vocals and the octave work on the guitar. The piano is cool too..This is a cool cover tom.;)

I was listening to some Van in the car yesterday. Cool Song. The jazz piano licks are great. I can't imagine that this would be a very EASY song to cover, and you did a bang up job on the instrumentation.

One mix critique (and I almost feel qualified to say this since I went to the trouble to hook up some monitors to my 'puter), the verb on the vocal sounds like a real big hall reverb. If it's not printed yet, you might think about pulling some of that out, because it's giving the vocal a real 1920's radio sound. Sounds like you recorded it in a barn, and then put reverb on it.

The vocal performance is great...it's just getting a little lost in the effect.

EVERYTHING else sounds great, and as a Van Morrison fan, I give a hearty 2 thumbs up.

Thanks for listening and commenting.
I am too overly critical of my vocal performances and I compensated for it by using too much processing to blend it into the mix. Thanks for calling me on this.I'll do a more transparent remix and repost.Good feedback!

Ditto to all the comments made so far. I must be hearing the first mix 'cause it does sound like the vocals were done in an empty missile silo or something. try a shorter 'verb and less, less less of it. The playing and singing are very good so I'd like to hear them better. good work! :)

I tried, but wma file comes up as text here. Sorry...

Crawdad,

Try Right Clicking the link and "save Target-As"....it should download for you that way.

I'll need a PC to do that right clicking thing. I'm on a Mac here. Do I have any other options? Let me try just click and hold on the link, maybe I can download that way. here goes....

Tom, listening now. That's a great song and played well. My system seems to be weighed left. Only the piano every now and then plays to the right side. I would have loved to hear that lead guitar on the right side just now. Good low eq's that really set a nice mood. Other than that, great job on a great song.

OK. I got it to download. It was a text file here. What IS a WMA file anyway? This is why I like Nowhereradio. I can hear everything there--no cross platform issues, no downloading weird files, no quitting the browser to listen. Just stream and go. I wish more people would use it--macle in particular!

Sorry, Tom. I WANT to hear your song, but I've spent 20 minutes already and had no luck.

Ahh,a Mac man.I dont have a clue about a Mac ,but I do know that WMA is a Bill gates format. It's Windows Media Audio so that is a problem for you......do you have Windows Media PLayer on your Mac?Do Mac user even use it?I dont have a clue about a Mac.

Sorry Crawdad
I didn't know .wma was strictly a windows codec. You went to all that trouble, too.I am uploading an .mp3 conversion of the tune for you now, with apologies.I had to go from 64 kpbs with .wma to 96 kpbs with .mp3 for the equivalent sound quality.I'm on dialup so that's why I've been using .wma, to keep file sizes down.

Tom--First, thanks for going to the trouble. I know dial up sucks but if you can do MP3 in the future, you are cross platform and everyone can play back MP3's. While I'm on this topic, I encourage you and everyone to give Nowhere radio a try. I think its the best. I hate MP3.com. They are always cluttering my e-mail, and I have other issues with them. Nowhere seems to have the best streaming. Don't ya hate it when you try and listen to a song that rebuffers all the time? Drives me crazy. I often won't bother listening to a song I HAVE to download, or go to a site that I don't like. Its just too much hassle. I want to hear the tune and cut to the chase. Life is too short.

Speaking of, I liked your version of Moondance. Nice Wes Montomery tones on the guitar and a good little groove too. But wait! You are from TEXAS? I swore your voice sounded like you were from the UK. Definitely something British going on there, which I liked a lot. Overall, nice job. Only thing I didn't like was the singing at the very end of the song. Other than that, it cruised right along for me.

Blimey,Crawdad.Bloody 'ell...
Naw,air force brat born in Denver and spent most of my life in good ol' Texas."Mah daddy's in the all bidness..."
Thanks for checking the tune out and for your comments.I have limited ftp'able file space and I just plain like the sound of .wma better than .mp3s.But anytime you or other Mac guys want a listen to my stuff, just give me a shout on the thread and I'll post up an .mp3 version pronto.
