Unkle Ticklefingers
I recently got a new mic, preamp and soundcard. This is a collab I did, and would appreciate some constructive criticism on it. I need some help, and would appreciate it.
Thanks.

EDIT: They can get it from the box above, I fixed it there.
Not a problem! I'll give it listen later. I have customers...Dogman said:Thanks Rokket. Don't know why mine left the space in the link. Pretty weird. Works now.
Thanks.

Yeah, I'll give you a listen when I get home. Can't crank it a work, the boss gives me the Eeeviiiillll eye when I do...Dogman said:Definitely not!! but, it keeps saying that, even though I love everyone who helps me. Oh well, guess it doesn't really impact life too much. Thanks again for the help.

No, but he's twice as mean....Dogman said:Boss..? Is he like Dilberts boss? All pointy haired and all? Probably not. I don't think the military would go for that. But pointy hair is soooo cooool!!!
One more thing, when it goes back into the main melody at about 4:20 or so, it's a bit of a rough transition...Rokket said:I'm listening now. It's an interesting take on a classic... The guitars are a bit thin, but overall, nice playing....
Thanks for the info. Hopefully I can work on some of this over the weekend.chrisharris said:Low end sounds good here...maybe too much, actually, but it sounds big. The guitars could have some more meat in them for my taste...they sound kinda' over-gained and midscooped, but you know, Sabbath had some of the nastiest sounding guitars ever recorded, lol. They were pretty much making it up as they went.
The biggest issue I hear mixwise is the low vocal. I know what the singer is saying ONLY b/c I'm familiar with the song. Yeah, the vocal needs to pop out a bit better.
Taste issue...the solo sounds like it's got a fake roomverb on it...the tone's not bad, but it's got that POD/Amplitubey sound that lacks depth, with too much verb on it to make up for it.
Okay, the more I listen, the more I'm thinking this might be too heavy in the low mids all the way across the board. Try notching some stuff at 315Hz and see if the vocal and the guitars don't instantly become more prominent.
Be well,
Chris
Thanks man. I'd love to find a new singer, but around here, noone else will even try, so I get to do it. Any suggestions on at least getting what little voice I have left any better?A Reel Person said:The recording quality was generally good. Get a new singer, and you'd have something really great.![]()
It's amazing how hard it is to use your voice.A Reel Person said:Don't sweat it.
Uh, the voice? Try,... uh,... singing instead of belching. Work on range and melody,... delivery. E'thing doesn't have to be a growl.
The song's way cool, though! Production value & playing is very good!![]()
