I've seen threads (can't find 'em now - doh!) where people have put a speaker and a microphone in a room they are trying to characterize.
They use some sort of tone generator to sweep through the audible frequency band, record the tones through the microphone, and then plot the response of the room. I guess you could call it spectral analaysis.
I'm not sure I've accurately described the process, but if anyone knows what I'm referring to, let me now what sort of tools (hardware/software) are necessary to generate the tones and perform the analysis.
