Hey all- is it crazy to just swap MB's in my PC? I figured that Windows 2000 would just sense the new one and and update accordingly. Obviously, a clean install would be best, but I'm just curious if just replacing boards will work.

Thanks - Warren

You should reformat and reinstall windows because the new mobo will have different drivers and config for the universal bus control and USB control and so forth.

Sounds like a plan. I was just hoping to be lazy with holiday weekend!

Thanks.

Sometimes its true you can just swap hardware out of the computer and ( for example with WinXP) there is no problem because the oS has a natural large database of drivers. I would say with Win 2000 try it and see. If it hangs ... only then would I suggest re-installing the OS.

Just swap the one for the other. It's all good.

If you have issues then redo your OS. That way you don't end up redoing your OS if you didn't need to
