Ok, I have two hard drives in my computer, one 10gb for apps and a 40gb for audio. I have changed the settings for my swap file to equal 2.5 times the amount of ram in my system. My question is this: Which drive should my swap file be on, the app drive or the audio drive?

Thanks,

I would suggest putting it on the app drive. If you have two separate controllers you can actually swap out memory while pulling data off of the other drive. If you only have one controller at least you can get the advantage of two separate spindles. Also the data drive is the one that will become fragmented the most and you don't want the Pagefile to be part of that.

Thanks for the info... I never t hought about two controllers. I will check into that as I am in the process of looking to upgarde my computer. Would that be two controllers on the same motherboard, or do you have to buy another controller "card" or something? Any suggestions?

Well any of the above. For the most part what you want to do is put the main hard drive as master on the primary IDE controller (all motherboards have this) and the data drive as master on the secondary controller (still a standard feature). Then put your burner as slave on the controller other then what you will be burning from.

What I have done is partioned my first drive into a system and data drive and my second drive is a one partion data drive. I use the large data drive for my wave data and projects. I save my mixdowns to the smaller data partion (which as I explained earlier is on the Primary controller). I then can burn to my CD burner which is the slave on my secondary controller. This way each controller avoids as much double work as possible.

I hope that made since.
