I really wanna get the sustained sound of synyster gates. I know it's the pickup he has, but I really don't know how all that stuff works. If someone tells me what I would actually need it would be great

I play and record through a marshall mg50fx
oh I see, but is the part of the amp that gives more sustain the head of the amp or the cab?
You would be hard pressed to find a metal album where the guitarist is not using a tube amp. Mr. gates uses a tube amp. most professional guitarist do. its also not just the fact that it is a tube amp, you need to get the type of tube amp that distorts the way that you need it to.hmmm, just now I cranked the gain onto full and seemed to be getting more joy. Has anyone perhaps got a sample of a tube amp in action? I probably have heard one before but I really don't know a lot about amps, or guitars tbh, I can just play guitar not bad
OD/Distortion pedals are an entire world of debate all by themselves. When you use OD pedals, do they completely take over the sound from the amp or do they just add to it?

Luckily, you are trying to get close to a sound that is pretty common and that link above Will tell you which amp you need to get.
well now ..... not that I know much about Synister Gates ..... but he does use a sustainiac pickup so that sustain is from the pickup itself.
It works sorta like an E-Bow so you can get endless sustain.
So for that you would need to buy a sustainiac p'up and install it.
I would imagine they need a battery for them to work.
This doesn't change all the suggestions for a good tube amp. You're really gonna want that too.
But with a sustainiac pickup you can get endless sustain from any amp .... even a tabletop radio if you ran your git into it!

Some color the sound a lot ...... others can be very transparent ...... there are hundreds and hundreds of them and every one sounds different.
A working guitarist can almost not have too many of them.
I have 20 at least and there's probably 30-40 more I'd like to have.
