so yeah, when i first got alsihad, i did this song just to mess around. i didn't think much of it, but then last night (almost 2 years later) i was checking out things and listened to it. it was interesting. a little meandering, a little direction-less and what-not.

so, here i post it for your consideration.

everything is played by me (drums are my clavia ddrum4 kit) and the guitars were recorded through a vox tonelab, which is terribly weak and not that great sounding, so i ran the raw signal into guitar rig2 and tweaked out the amp/mic placements and found something a bit more suitable.

i did the same thing with the bass track.

whatcha think?

It does meandor, but I hear a Dogman vocal possibility here. :)

I dont have much to say about the mix itself as I am listening on cheap logitech headphones, but it's got potential with some coo vox in there. :D

Thanks for sharing ~

(btw I hear a strong chris cornell voice thing in there ...)

yeah i'm not so good with the vocals there... i'll spare everyone of my singing.

There were no vox on the version i heard
I like the vibe on this a lot - brooding and heavy, well mixed

oh there were no vocals, you didn't miss anything. folks were suggesting a vocal concept/sound, and i simply stated that i will do you all a favor and spare you of my vocals :)

i do not sing, which is, for everyone concerned, a wise decision.

cool

I have nothing really constructive to offer, but just wanted to say I love the basic idea of what you've got here. Brooding and heavy as Rohan said...a very full natural and almost retro sound to the whole thing.

I agree totally with the Chris Cornell possibilities here...but, if you aren't going to have vocals, perhaps some lead guitar? Or a Hammond organ sound might compliment this well...

I hope you work with it, 'cause it sounds like a good backdrop for something. :)

thanks for the kind words :)

i'm glad that i was actually able to "communicate" the kind of sound i was going after ("full," "natural" and "retro"). that's really the kind of sound i appreciate most. i've never been a big fan of the modern "full spectrum" sound that is so very prevalent in mainstream recordings.

again, thanks for listening. much appreciated.
